After four weeks the time came for Tyson to have his cast taken off.
He had mixed emotions going in.
He was really excited to get it off, but really scared of the saw.
We talked and talked and talked and talked about how the saw wasn't going to hurt him, but he just didn't believe me.
Finally I told him he'd just have to be brave.
And he was.
I was so glad to get that cast taken off because after a month it stunk!
He was given a brace to wear for an additional two weeks. He was told he needed to take it off for passive activities, such as eating, sleeping, and doing homework to help increase his range of motion. He thought the brace was the coolest thing ever. He even told me that he wished he could break his other arm so he could have a matching set.
Thankfully the novelty of the brace wore off. And after two weeks he isn't required to wear the brace anymore, at least by the doctor. You'd better believe I'm still going to make him wear it for soccer, jumping on the trampoline, etc.

When Anson was five he broke his arm. While he had the cast on, he shoved a penny up his cast. We couldn't get it out! So on cast opening day he had this gross green penny stuck to his hand. It took 3 days to get all of the green off his hand. Bleh.
