Deck the Halls

Setting up the Christmas tree was quite the challenge this year.
I typically like to set up the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.
However, this is what my living room looked like:

No, we didn't just move. These boxes are Dan's "filing system."

In an effort to "clean the office," he moved all his junk into my living room.

And then it started to multiply.

I tried patiently waiting for him to take care of it.

I tried hinting about wanting to set up the Christmas tree.

I even tried organizing his boxes for him.

Nothing worked. This mess sat and sat and sat. Until a week into December when I finally moved it for him.

I also moved out a couch and rearranged other miscellaneous furniture to make room for the tree.

By this time I was exhausted. Too exhausted to carry the Christmas decorations up from the basement storage room.

So I hinted to Dan that I could use his help.

And I waited and waited and waited.

Several days later I finally did it myself. I carried all the boxes upstairs. When Tyson came home from school he helped me assemble the tree. That night while the boys were sleeping I put the lights and garland on the tree.

The next morning, before I was even up, I heard Preston yell, "Santa came and put the lights on the tree!" By breakfast the tree was decorated.

And that night after they went to bed, I re-decorated the tree.

December is half over, but the boys are thrilled that it's finally Christmas time.
*I hope this post doesn't imply that my husband is lazy. Quite the opposite in fact. He is currently self-imployed full-time, managing a sales team part-time, acting as President of a marketing group, and organizing our Ward Choir Christmas Program. He's got plenty of things to do without me bugging him with my Honey-do's.

This Dan guy sounds like a real tool. You should force him to take a week off during the holidays.
