The last thing we checked off our Christmas To-Do list was a visit to Temple Square. We weren't able to make it before Christmas, but we did make sure we made it before they turned off the lights at New Years.
It's been years since we've been to Temple Square at Christmas time. The boys were a little skeptical about how much 'fun' it was really going to be. But we won them over by beginning our evening with dinner at the Nauvoo cafe in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Any doubts Tyson may have still had disappeared when we first stepped foot onto Temple Square. I heard him sigh in amazement I he saw all the lights. I was so glad we'd made the effort to come when he said,
"Mom! This is amazing!"
The grounds were still quite crowded despite the cold temperatures and the fact the Christmas was officially over. We tried to get some good pictures, but had to settle for these:

We finished the evening in the South Visitor Center (mostly due to the need of a bathroom) where we had to visit the Christus. (which was also extremely crowded.)
(Here Preston is explaining to his Daddy how the Christus was made. "The guy made it out of rock, and first he made a little one. Then he made a bigger one. He made the hands first, then the head and then he had to take a break to eat. . . . . )

Looks like you guys had fun.
Preston is seriously hilarious!! I love listening to him tell stories, and even reading the funny things he says!!
We never made it. I really wanted to go to temple square and see the lights. Oh well, next time. Also the museum up there is really fun when not crowded for little kids. Your big boys would love it.
