Washington DC: Day 2

*Sorry for the delay. Life threw me a curve ball this week.

After a short nights sleep we were ready to hit the streets again. We easily navigated the metro system through the city. First we headed headed to the Museum of American History.

Dan had the camera for most of the day, so you get to enjoy his random photography like this beauty:

(A George and Martha Washington puppet show)
And this one:

(A piece of the World Trade Center)
And last, but not least this:

(an old random waffle iron)

Next we went to the Holocaust Museum. We picked up our tickets and had a little time to kill before our scheduled tour. First we enjoyed lunch at the cafe', which to Dan's dismay was Kosher. Next we walked across the street to the Washington Monument.

(At 5'2", I am three stones tall)

The reflection pool between the Washington and Lincoln Monuments is currently under construction. The view across the mall was less than amazing.

We returned to the Holocaust Museum at 3 o'clock, and began our self-guided tour. (No picture taking allowing) Dan decided to fully immerse himself in the experience and read everything. I mean ev.er.y.thing. Not paying any attention to the time we barely made it through half the building before we were abruptly asked the leave since they were closing for the day. I was so disappointed!

We heard that the Kennedy Center has free concerts every night at 6pm, so we booked it across town to catch the concert. The concert ended up being a collection of classical pianist from around the world. Most of them were children. Amazing. (Again, no pictures)

By the end of the day I was very tired of being on my feet and hungry for dinner. We ate at the cafe at the Kennedy Center. Dan wanted to stay for a play but I was exhausted and feeling very under dressed for the theater so I insisted we head back to the hotel for the night.

I've never had much interest in a D.C. vacation, but between my Hubs' visit a few years ago and your post....I'm tentatively interested now. :) I hope you had fun!!
