Tyson has had mixed emotions about it. He loves summer. But he loves school too. He finally decided that it was bittersweet.
As for me, I love Back to School time! And this has been our best year yet! We are blissfully in the stage where going back to school is easy. It's not scary or emotional like starting kindergarten or first grade. And it's not expensive or stressful like jr. high or high school. Going back to school is no sweat for second graders! He is still young enough that I can buy his school clothes for him. And this year I was thrilled to be able to buy all his new shirts online (I love clearance sales with free shipping!) And he still fits in all his jeans from last year. Dan took him shopping once for new shoes, a new backpack and supplies.
We still only have one kid in public school. Back to School night is a breeze when you only have to meet one teacher.
He is independent enough to get himself ready for school each morning. And we are blessed to live near the school, so he can walk or ride bikes with his neighborhood friends. (Tyson with his walking buddies. Can you believe he is the youngest kid in the group?!)
I love school!
