He's Always Good For A Laugh

Tyson and I were reading the book, Amazing Weather, the other day. The last page of the book listed lots of interesting facts about weather. After reading one fact:

"The largest hailstone on record, weighing 2.2 lbs was reported to have killed 92 people in the Gopalganj district in Bangladesh, on April 14, 1986."

I questioned out loud, "How did one hailstone kill so many people?"

Tyson was quick with his answer, "Maybe they just kept throwing it at each other."

I just googled it and found out that it was the STORM that killed that many people, not that individual hailstone. It may be the heaviest recorded one but not the largest. The largest one officially recorded fell in Nebraska in 2003 and was about 7 inches in diameter but only weighed just over 1 pound.

Interesting stuff, though.

Yeah, aparently I can't read and it did say "hailstoneS" I just missed that the first time I read it. But the story isn't funny if you read it right ;)
