The Big '5'

Tyson is officially Five years old.
I never thought this day would come.
He is officially a big kid.
I kept telling him that yesterday was his last day as a little kid. He can no longer throw fits, talk like a baby, and now he has to pump himself on the swings.

For years I've told him that he couldn't do things/have things until he was 5. I could really be in trouble if he remembers all the promises I have made.
For example:

*He can now officially have gum. Do you remember this incident. Apparently 4 year old's can't handle gum. I really hope a 5 year old can.

* I promised to take him to Disneyland again when he was 5.

I'm not the only one to make "5-year-old promises." Deb promised to get him a dog when he turned 5.

Please don't remind him.

In all seriousness, these have been 5 of the best years of my life. This kid has me (and his dad)happily wrapped around his little finger.

Happy Birthday, Tyson!

Are you planning a trip to Disneyland, too? Or is our upcoming trip to Oceanside (and Sea World / Legoland) a good enough substitute?

I would still get him a dog if his dad would let me.

I can't believe that he is five! Where did that time go? I still remember being on our trip and getting that phone call. I thought Dan was such a joker. I about died when I realized it was true and you were going back to Utah to get him. That picture of you two in the back of my car, is still one of my favorite pictures.

Happy Birthday Little Man!

My kids get gum at 8. When they "have to" fast on fast Sunday, they get gum. If they want to fast at 7, I'll give them gum, too. Five is a low threshold for gum. Immediately raise it to 8.

I'm also in trouble about Disneyland. 5 years ago I told the kids we'd go to Disneyland in t5 year. Ain't gonna happen. Luckily, none of them remember.

Meanwhile, maybe next year.
