Movie Night

Dan had tickets to another BYU game. Since I have no interest in going he thought it would be fun to take Tyson again.
I wanted it to be a surprise so I didn't tell Tyson about it until right before it was time to go. I had his clothes laid out and his backpack loaded. I told him that Dad had a surprise for him.
Tyson loves a good surprise. Especially when that surprise involves going somewhere fun.
Bracing myself for the squeals of excitement I said,
"Daddy's taking you to a football game!"
I was shocked by the response I got.
His smile melted off his face, his shoulders sagged. He nearly started crying.
"No!" he said " I don't want to go."
"What? You loved it last time. Daddy thought you would want to go again."
"I've already been to a football game," he replied. "I don't want to go again."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I want to have a movie night with popcorn."
"Um, OK but you have to tell your Dad."
I dialed Dan's number and handed the phone over to Tyson. I knew Dan needed to hear it from him, not from me. Dan was just as surprised as I was with Tyson's reaction.
Dan didn't have any trouble finding someone else to use his extra ticket.
So Dan went to the game with a friend.
I took the boys grocery shopping, made dinner, and tidied up the house. We ended our evening by snuggling in our jammies with popcorn and milk shakes watching Monsters vs. Aliens.
I'm pretty sure I got the better end of the deal.

Maybe next time Dan will get rid of both tickets and join us.

I think you had the better evening. Kids, popcorn, milk shakes and movies. What could be as much fun. Although, the girls and I always added a pizza when Mike was gone. Precious memories.
